Preface
Dear Readers:–The Gentleman’s Journal has evolved over the course of the last several years into something wholly separate from it’s initial purpose. Having been started as a place to discuss “all things under the sun” within the context of Roman dogma, doctrine, discipline, and tradition, it has slowly become less pedagogical and more personal – showcasing my creative writing, opinion pieces, and love of Eighteenth-century English Language and Literature. It has taken on the visage of an Eighteenth-century journal, the sort that might have been contributed to by Addison, Steele, and Johnson; edited by Cave; and published by Lintot.
Originally entitled the The Daily P.E.E.P.–Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice, for Church and Pope – it has withdrawn from the tumultuous chaos of that conflict which is presently being waged within the Roman Church. The Editor has relinquished the entertainment of Holy Orders that once possessed him and he has taken to secular subjects, where religious ones have taxed his patience and energies.
The foreseeable future does not promise any more like evolutions and the present form and content of the journal is as it will remain.
